“ This place is worth the hype. And yes it's very busy with both tourists and locals. Make reservations ! One of the best clam chowder I have had. Well deserved accolades for it. They do have a gluten and bacon free option. Sourdough bread was delicious as well. Fresh baked and warm with a perfect crust. Our server was superb. Gave us some great recommendations not just food but for some unique experiences in SF. The scallop and crab risotto was excellent as well. Must go in my books. ”
“ Had a delicious lunch here! We didn't make reservations although you can and it seems to be busy all throughout the day which makes sense as it's on the famous pier in San Francisco. We got seated in a back spot surrounded by lots of busy tables. There are beautiful window spots overlooking the water and the views are pretty. Clam chowder soup topped with crab was *chef kiss* but the bread bowl it was served in was not warm so it was yummy hot soup in a cold bread bowl. The warm sour dough bread served as a table side was amazing though. We also split the warm butter lobster roll and that was quite pleasant. It was a great lunch and I would eat here again despite my initial skepticism being in such a touristy area. ”
“ I was skeptical that this place looked better online and might be an overrated tourist spot, but it was great! The restaurant is bright with all the big windows and has a beautiful view of the bay (including Alcatraz). We were lucky to have beat the lunch rush and got a table right next to the window, but there probably isn't a bad spot inside the restaurant. The aesthetic is nice but still casual, which is good for a touristy day in the city. The clam chowder was delicious! It had a good, thicker consistency and they were generous with the lump crab on top. The sourdough was crispy on the outside but so soft on the inside! We also enjoyed the fried scallops; it was a pretty big serving for two, and reminded me of fried clams but less chewy. We loved the jalapeño aioli. Lastly, I wish I remembered his name, but we really liked our waiter too. He was available when we needed something and checked in on us, but not too frequently either. Can't wait to come back again sometime! ”

That said, the service was excellent--David was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, a great experience, and I would definitely come back for the clam chowder! Would recommend, especially if you're a chowder fan! ”

“ First time at Fog Harbor, was excited to have my first crab of the season! Five stars for the staff, they're exceptional. So patient, kind, attentive. Especially Haleigh, at the bar. They went out of their way to help me place my crab/clam chowder order. I really appreciate the attention to detail. As for the crab, it was so dry and disappointing. I would not return for the food. The views/scenery are lovely, staff is accommodating, they even have gluten free clam chowder. I prefer the crab next door at Crab House. ”
“ Came here with a party of three. This place is on the second floor of Pier 39 and has an excellent view of the harbor if you're lucky enough to snag a window side table. We all ordered clam chowder (I got mine in a sourdough bread bowl), garlic fries, and calamari. For drinks, we got the strawberry lemonade and blackberry press. Garlic fries were pretty good. The clam chowder here is hearty and comes with an abundance of seafood. The broth is nice and thick, and the bread adds to the flavor. They hollow out the insides, so I wonder what they do with the residual sourdough filling. Do they just toss it out? That seems so wasteful! If they just cut off the top and left the inside connected, I wouldn't be opposed haha. Drinks are made with fresh fruit and were incredibly refreshing/cut through the heavy cream of the clam chowder. ”
